History

 

Wee Care Pediatrics was founded in September of 2002 by Dr. James (Tony) Bakerink.  Dr. Bakerink was born in Elko, Nevada but has lived in Las Vegas from 6 months of age.  He has family here both locally and in Elko. 

 

     Dr. "B" as his patients like to call him, graduated from the University of  Nevada at Las Vegas in 1990 with a Major in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry.  He put himself through undergraduate school as a Surgical technician during this time.  After completing undergraduate school, Dr. B was accepted and attended medical school at the University of  Nevada School of Medicine at Reno.  He received his Medical Doctorate in 1994.  He then attended UC-Davis for Pediatric residency where he completed his training in 1997.  Dr. Bakerink is board certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

 

     Upon completion of his training, Dr. Bakerink returned back "home" to Las Vegas where he worked as a General Pediatrician for 5 years before starting his dream company Wee Care Pediatrics.  During this time period Dr. Bakerink served two years as the Chief of Pediatrics at Summerlin Hospital and has worked hard to establish himself in the community.  On several occasions he has been ranked among the "Top Doctors" in the Las Vegas area.  Dr. Bakerink is a long standing member of Physicians Without Borders and Physicians for Human Rights.

 

     Through dedication and hard work, Wee Care Pediatrics was ultimately nurtured into a thriving medical practice with two offices that have become a local staple of the community. Most recently we are proud and thankful to announce our association with the Womens Shadetree Shelter, whereby Dr. Bakerink volunteers weekly to give medical care to the displaced children at the shelter.

 

     Wee Care Pediatrics is dedicated to providing the best quality medical care to the Pediatric patients of the Las Vegas area.  We pride ourselves on giving back to our community and we continuously strive to determine how we can make our services better through dedication, effort and caring.  This is the "Wee Care way, and that's how we do it here".
